Reciprocity*

I have firm memories of having ear infections as a child. I can remember waking up because my ear hurt, then trying to go back to sleep. Then I can remember screaming so that my parents would come in and rescue me. I can remember my parents different reactions, my mom bringing medicine and being comforting, my dad asking me what I wanted him to do. (That part may not be 100% accurate) I can remember trying to go back to sleep on the floor of their room (we were not allowed in their bed) I can remember waking them up just to tell them it still hurt and I couldnt sleep.

So last night when E woke up for the third (or fourth, or fifth) time of many more, I looked at Isaac and said:

"Im sorry this is all my fault"

*I spelled it right on the first try! Go me!

Random again

Isaac and I think E looks really old in this pic. Umm 3 going on 13?

A frequent conversation that E an I have is about cutting her hair. She is really fascinated with it and she wants me to do it all the time.

It usually goes in the form of a monologue: "And you will cut my hair, and I will sit on the counter (what she did the last time in March), and it will be so beautiful! . . ." this can go on for a long time.

So today when she mentioned it I decided on a whim to give her a little trim. You can see in this picture her left side is longer than the right. I only cut off an inch or so but I am really pleased with the results, it was definitely looking a little scraggly.

E is really into big girl phrases like "not quite yet" and "pretty good"

One of T's new words is ewwy as in: This raw piece of pasta is ewwy remove it from my presence. Isaac also tells me yesterday he went around the park hitting things with a stick and saying "ow."

Tonight when we put him down he was really sad and we chalked it up to his recent cold. However after a little while Isaac went in to offer some milk and he happened to bring in a different blanket. T said "blanket" grabbed the blanket and went to sleep with nary a peep.

I love having a blanket child. E has never been a comfort object child, but T is way into blankets. Its so so cute! Normally he prefers crocheted ones but will occasionally accept a fleece one. Although tonight it seems he wanted a specific crocheted one so he may be narrowing his preferences. He drags them all over the house with him and its so cute. Sometimes if he is grumpy in the morning he needs it in his highchair.

I know he does the same cute things as a million children on the planet, but he still seems like the cutest child on the planet.

The next two weeks are going to be kind of crazy for me as school ends the week after Thanksgiving. And Isaac is taking the last CPA exam a week from Monday. Yikes! He is taking some vacation after that so he will be home to help with the kiddos while I go crazy. Paid vacation is so amazing!

Strong Interest Inventory

Today in class we got back our results from the Strong Interest Inventory.

Typically I find these kind of things to be rather repetative because they usually tell me things I already know about myself. I already know that I am an impulsive social extrovert.

However this time there was a surprise. The inventory suggests your top occupations. Mine?

Hmm . . . Otherwise known as SAHM?

yesterday

I feel kinda bad about my post yesterday. I didnt mean to make anyone feel bad. Honestly its mostly me. I am not very good at keeping up with people when I have to go out of my way at all. I am not feeling lonely, I am mainly just tired of small talk.

Clever

I know this is really Rachel's blog, but I want you all to know that I love her and appreciate the time she puts into chronicling our family's life. She is smart and funny and wonderful.

Besides complimenting my wife, I wanted to share a funny clip. I'm relatively certain my siblings will enjoy it, but anyone who likes Saturday Night Live should get a kick out of a Weekend Update segment featuring "James Carville." I don't know anything about his political views, but they do a pretty good caricature of him.

Anyway, check out this SNL Weekend Update from about two months ago. For my favorite part watch from about the 7:00 mark to the 8:30 mark in the episode.

Drinking the Meredith Kool-aid part IV

I have a class with only 8 people in it.

Today we spent the first 10 minutes talking about how one of our class members got engaged. And we looked at pictures of her dress, and the reception site.

(You know, the one who needed her Meredith Ring first)

(Seriously this is the coolest engagement ever, the guy even had a photographer hidden)

(Have you looked at the link yet?)

(You should)

And then at the end of class we watched this.
